What is Search Engine Optimization (SEO) | SEO Tips

Search Engine Optimization, or SEO, is the process of making a website easy to find in a search engine when people search for a particular topic related to your content.

For example, if you have created a website devoted to tattoo removal products, it would be ideal to have your website appear right at the top of the page in Google when someone searches for “tattoo removal products”. The better your search engine ranking, the more visitors will access your website. If your website doesn’t appear until page 15 in the search engine results, barely anyone will ever find it. Most people don’t search past the first or second page, unfortunately.

There are ways to optimize your website in the search engines by doing on-page SEO as well as off-page SEO.

What is on-page SEO?

It is what you can do within your website to optimize the search engine results. For example, some say that duplicate content on your website hurts your search engine ranking because search engines use algorithms and “search bots” to decide if the information on your website is a duplicate of the content of another similar website that is already ranked.

Also, the keywords you assign to each page within your website are the words, or phrases, someone inputs into a search engine to get the results they need. By assigning the right, and most effective, keywords, can have a major impact on how much traffic you end up getting. This is because search engines generally check the content of each page to make sure that the information is relevant to the keywords you have assigned.

Makes sense …. but it can get a lot more complicated than that, so this is definitely something you will need to pay a LOT of attention to when first starting out. You may end up “tweaking” your keywords and content many times before you get it right. Believe me, I did!

What is off-page SEO?

A lot of people say that off-page SEO is even more important than on-page SEO when it comes to how the search engines rank your web pages. The best, and most effective, example of off-page SEO is getting links back to your website from other web pages, otherwise known as “back-links”. The more links you have back to your web pages, the more the search engines believe that your information is relevent and reliable. If a ton of people have links to your website on their web pages, then your site must be pretty good, right?

There are a number of techniques and “tricks” to make this happen and every single affiliate product will promise the world when it comes to SEO. So, do they deliver?
